townhouses, Greek Revival (architecture), 1840s construction

Four 3-story Greek-revival residential buildings originally completed together in 1846. They are clad in red brick above brownstone basements, except for No. 105, which has been completely smooth-stuccoed, and given a basement entrance in place of the stoop.

The original quaint, dimensions of the low attic windows have been retained in all but No. 105. The elaborately detailed cornices with brackets at Nos. 107 and 111 are doubtless later additions, while the original refined cornice with dentils is seen at No. 109. John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved into No. 105 in 1971, and lived here until 1973 when they moved to the Dakota uptown.
