This truck stop originally operated from circa 2000 through 2017 as Hempstead Truck Stop with Exxon gas and a Denny's (though in its last year became "Country Delight Café"). Around early 2016 a Subway was built in the gas station, but wasn't actually connected to the gas station, instead appearing to take seating from Denny's. In June 2018, it officially reopened as a Pilot. The west entrance is gone, Subway continues to operate, and the new facility features a Dunkin' Donuts Express kiosk and Pilot Flying J's "PJ Fresh" concept.
