house, place with historical importance, NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, craftsman, 1911_construction, American Craftsman (architecture)
Historic Craftsman-style house built in 1911, designed by famed craftsman architect Gustav Stickley. It was commissioned by attorney Samuel Hazen Bond and his physician wife Mabel Cornish Bond. They had met with Stickley in New York to select the plan for the home from his publication magazine "The Craftsman" which had been drafted in 1904. The name of the home was coined by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill who celebrated the great pleasure of rual living in his works. The Bond family (owners) had a significant say in the design, altering the floorplan and even directly supervising the production of furniture and fixtures for the home. Today it has been lovingly restored and maintained as a private residence.
