The dome 24.70m high (34.70m on the exterior) and 15m in diameter.
Construction works, coordinated by Sibiu engineer, Joseph Schussnig, began in 1902 and was completed in 1904. Towers, the dome and vaulted parts were made of iron rafters made at Fabritius factory in Sibiu.
The interior church walls were plastered in the spring of 1904 with Carrarra marble powder and Düsseldorf old lime.
The icons on the iconostasis, the dome (depicting Christ Pantocrator surrounded by angels) and pendentives of the dome were painted in fresco in 1905 by Octavian Smigelschi in Art Nouveau style promoted by the Budapest school.
Smigelschi was helped by his friend Arthur Coulin.
