The Clock Tower from Saschiz is part of the Evangelical Church fortification, built in the late XVth century(1493-96?).
The tower today is very similar to the famous Clock Tower from Sighisoara (the most beautiful tower in all of Transylvania).
In 1677 the tower was raised by a Tyrolean master builder, who took as a model the Clock Tower from Sighisoara. The tower was probably affected by the great 1714 fire that destroyed most of Saschiz.
The tower was renovated in 1832 and affected by the 1986 earthquake.
