It is the first international-class hotel of post-independence Malaya. It was built to coincide with Malaya's Independence commemoration to serve as a hotel for witnessing foreign dignitaries. It opened for business just three days before Malaya's Independence Day which falls on 31st August 1957. It is owned by multinational hospitality group, Federal Hotels International (www.fhihotels.com/) which also owns the Capitol Hotel nearby. Having witnessed the growth and development of the city, the hotel lies at the heart of Bukit Bintang, a first-class address in the amazing shopping, dining and entertainment paradise of the city.
