 office building, Neoclassical (architecture)

4-story Neo-Classical office building completed in 1913. Designed by C.P.H. Gilbert as a bank and office building for the Lincoln Trust Company, the main feature of the facade is a large 2nd-3rd-floor arch with decorative cast-iron columns and spandrels. Both ground floor facades of the Lincoln Trust Building were altered between c. 1981 and 2001 with the conversion of an existing window to a door and the sealing of the remaining window with cement stucco.

Both facades have three bays at the ground and top floors. The ground floor on both sides has a central entryway with molded surround, bracketed pediment with incised lettering, and historic brass doors, flanked by a grey stucco-sealed window on the north side, and a non-historic service entryway on the south side on Fifth Avenue, and a louvered vent on Broadway. The large arch above has a molded architrave, ornamental frieze, spindlework, historic steel casements, and a scrolled keystone on each facade. Projecting piers are topped by carved caps, with non-historic stucco fascia above the 2nd floor. The top floor features projecting keystones below a stucco-covered roof parapet.

After 1926, Lincoln Trust was known as Chase National Bank which operated a bank branch in the building up until the 1980's. In 1988, the building was turned into an exclusive supper club known as MK which was founded by Eric Goode and Serge Becker. The interior was designed to mimic the decor of a luxurious home. Following the closure of MK, it was turned into the offices for the ad agency Pentagram in 1991 which undertook alteration of the interior to accomodate several levels of internal flooring while retaining many of the original details. Pentagram vacated in spring of 2018.

It is now going to be expanded under the direction of CetraRuddy starting in 2019 as part of the neighboring Porcelanosa flagship.
