It is one of the oldest districts of Bassano, being mentioned in a document dating back to 1262 A.D. (the so-called 'Codice Eceliniano'). Once encompassing a larger area in the south-eastern part of Bassano, the name is currently assigned to a smaller portion of that territory which is now surrounded by newer districts (named Merlo, Firenze, Centro Storico - i.e. inner city - and Borgo Zucco).
