Záhorská Bystrica (Hungarian: Pozsonybeszterce; German: Bisternitz) became a part of Bratislava in 1972. Its territory was crossed by an important trading route in ancient times which is documented by archeological findings of fortification, habitations and grave yards. The first written document comes from 1314. In spite of modern neighborhoods of today with new buildings Záhorská Bystrica has preserved its country-like character with typical long blocks of attached houses and long yards.
