Nové Mesto (meaning New Town; Hungarian: Újváros; German: Neustadt; and earlier Kvetná dolina in Slovak; Hungarian: Virágvölgy; German: Blumenthal ) is a part of Bratislava located on the slopes of the Little Carpathians, where large vineyards were situated. In 1840 an important event took place: construction of the first horse railway in the territory of present Slovakia. It has the most developed chemical industry, most of the sports facilities, agricultural and forest areas.
