The Savoy Apartment Hotel (1906) was the first public building in Houston to have electricity. The larger hotel addition was built in 1961 by Allen Field Enterprises. In 2009, the older apartment component was torn down. In 2014, it went under renovation to become the downtown Houston Holiday Inn. No relation to the one two blocks down that used to be a Holiday Inn back in the 1970s and 1980s.
