The university has owned this land since the 1980s, evicted the run-down rentals that were located here and demolished them soon after, and finally--after over two decades--has built something: an apartment complex that opened for fall 2014, though they leased the land to a developer. Milam Avenue, a city street, was completely removed in the process, and Culpepper Drive (which went all the way to the creek) was severely truncated.
