5-story cast-iron building completed in 1871. Designed by Nicholas Whyte as a store, it is painted grey, with slender columns, and alternating styles of cornices across each floor. There are ten bays along Mercer Street, and three on Spring. Some of the windows have triangular pediments There is a grey metal fire escape over the southern three bays on Mercer. The building was later used as a factory, and was purchased by artist Donald Judd in 1968 to serve as his residence and studio. Judd died in 1994, but his foundation sold art from its collection to fund a $23 million restoration of the building at 101 Spring Street, finishing in 2012 after a nearly a decade under wraps.

It now serves as a museum, offering guided tours.
