Founded in 1879 by David Stott, Stott Flour Mills was a leading supplier of flour and related products with a number of mills. Stott later became involved in real estate and is probably best remembered for the 38 story, David Stott building erected downtown in 1929.
The Stott Mills at West Warren Avenue and Grand River Avenue caught on fire and burned in 1943.
