Soho Hotel

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Greene Street, 101-111

7-story "loft hotel" combining several buildings, opened in 2001. The section at 103-105 is the oldest structure, a cast-iron Henry Fernbach store completed in 1879. The section that existed at 101 Greene was destroyed by fire in 1957 and was replaced by a garage. But for the hotel project, this section has been rebuilt to match the older building and incorporated into the hotel. This southern facade is ten bays wide, with paneled pilasters framing the two center bays and the end bays, and Corinthian columns dividing the remaining bays. Above each pilaster's capital is a rosette. The upper floors all have red window framing.

The section at 107-111 is new construction (the original building was destroyed by fire in 1923 and replaced by three 2-story yellow brick buildings, which were torn down for the new construction). This structure is designed by Joseph Pell Lombardi with a riveted-steel facade intended to mimic the feel of the area's cast-iron buildings. It has three sections of four windows each, with rivets on the piers as well as the individual pilasters. The whole hotel complex has 100 guest rooms. The ground floor retail is occupied by Natuzzi boutique, Dior apparel, Taschen art books, Tous watches and jewelry, and AG Adriano Goldscmhied designer denim store.
