townhouse, 1830s construction, Federal style (architecture)
3-story Federal-style townhouse completed in 1834 as a 2.5-story house. It was once part of Aaron Burr's estate. The building was raised to three full floors in 1888. It is clad in orange brick above a stone basement. The brownstone stoop leads to a doorway framed by two Ionic columns on each side, and topped by a round-arched window with a keystone. The three bays of windows have brownstone sills and lintels and black wooden exterior shutters. The building is crowned by a bracketed and modillioned roof cornice.
