4-story building completed in 1870. Designed by Gage Ensler as a store-and-loft building, it is clad in red brick, with a cast-iron ground floor that extends up to the 2nd floor at the southernmost bay. There is a metal fire escape on the 10-bay Mercer Street facade, and both facades are crowned by a bracketed metal roof cornice. NYU acquired the building, which also goes by the address of 283 Mercer Street, in 1965.

It recently housed NYU Copy Central and now is used as the outpost of the NYU Public Safety department.
