Camp Reynolds Cemetery

USA / California / Sausalito /
 cemetery, historic landmark

This military cemetery of 143 graves was moved in 1947 by the US Army to Golden Gate National Memorial Cemetery in San Bruno. The cemetery was the final resting place for those who died on Angel and Alcatraz Islands, as Alcatraz could not accommodate a cemetery. It also held the bodies of children, a murder victim and her murderer who committed suicide afterwards, and three graves each containing six bodies that had been found washed up on the beach.

At Golden Gate National Cemetery there are 134 named graves and a plot marked "Eight Unknown." The body of PVT David Barrow (d. 23 Apr 1877) was moved off island on 5 Jan 1911 to an unknown location.
