4.5-story residential building completed in 1829 as a warehouse for grocers Hopkins & Hawley, who moved to the building next door, 229-231 Front Street, when it was completed a decade later. The ground floor has a cast-iron shopfront which was added later. Round-arched paneled square columns support lintels decorated with rosettes. The original red brick facing appears to have been retained at the three upper floors, which are divided into four bays of windows with stone sills and lintels. The most striking feature of this fine building is its pitched roof rising above a dentllled brick cornice and crowned by two pedlmented wood dormers. As a part of the Historic Front Street 2005 re-development project, this building was restored and converted to apartments. The ground floor (along with the ground floor of No. 235 next door) is occupied by Nelson Blue restaurant.
