5-story residential building completed in 1822 as a 4-story building for Peter Schermerhorn. It is clad in red brick, and was significantly remodeled in the late 19th century. The cast-iron lintel with rosettes at the storefront level was part of the later alteration. The 5th floor was added in 1839, at which time the peaked roof was lowered. The corbeled brick roof cornice is characteristic of this later period. A part of the Historic Front Street 2005 re-development project, it was restored and converted to apartments. The ground floor is occupied by Barbalu restaurant, sharing space with the ground floor of 225 Front Street next door.
