5-story residential building originally completed in 1800, along with Nos. 220, 222 & 226, as 2.5-story commercial buildings. In 1858 this building was raised to five floors, with a new red brick facade. A ground-floor storefront with paneled cast-iron square columns was also installed, now painted white, with green metal infill and glass show windows. Around this time, molded metal lintels were also added to the windows. Slightly lower In height than No. 220, the common roof lines of Nos. 222 and 224 are ornamented with dentiled brick cornices. A part of the Historic Front Street 2005 re-development project, this building was restored and converted to rental apartments. The ground floor is occupied by Gilded Age menswear.
