Likely in the 1860s this building was raised to five floors, with a new red brick facade, to match that of No. 224 next door, which had been raised in 1858. Ground-floor storefront with paneled cast-iron square columns were also installed, now painted white, with green metal infill and glass show windows. Around this time, molded metal lintels were also added to the windows. Slightly lower In height than No. 220, the common roof lines of Nos. 222 and 224 are ornamented with dentiled brick cornices. A part of the Historic Front Street 2005 re-development project, this building was restored and converted to rental apartments. The ground floor is occupied by Jack's Coffee.
