4-story Victorian-style residential building completed in 1885 as a fish smokehouse. Designed by George B. Post, it has white cast-iron pilasters at the ground floor, which was originally covered by a large metal canopy - until about 20 00, when it was removed and the building renovated. The upper floors are clad in red brick, enriched with stone band courses which connect the windows at Impost block level and extend the width of the building. The contrast In color between the stone band courses and the red brickwork creates the polychromatic effect fashionable in the 1870s and 1880s. At the center of each story, curvilinear wrought-lron tie-rod washers enliven the facade. A corbeled brick roof cornice spans the top of the building. Remnants of painted signage on the facade recall the building's earlier uses in the fish market. The ground floor is now occupied by Fresh Salt restaurant.
