2-story commercial building housing a restaurant, completed in 1973 as part of the Grand Central Plaza project, which includes the plaza and tower behind this building. The 2-story building is clad in grey and black metal and glass. The east facade on the avenue has four bays of large plate-glass windows, the north one slightly recessed and containing the main entrance to the restaurant. Attached to the north end of the building is a long staircase leading up to the rooftop deck, which has plantings, a glass-and-metal railing, and wood pergolas at the west and east ends. Next to that is a passageway leading back to the main plaza and tower. The south facade has 12 bays. Due to the slope of 40th Street, the ground-floor windows are grouped into threes and grow shorter as they progress to the west. The westernmost bay has black metal louvers at both floors. The west facade facing the tower has six bays, all with large windows.

Zengo is an artful blend of Latin-Asian styles and flavors. Chef-owner Richard Sandoval, whose accolades include Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year and Mexico's Toque d'Oro, spins regional ingredients into beautifully balanced dishes designed for sharing. The beverage menu features innovative, hand-muddled cocktails as well as Latin wines, Japanese sakes and over 400 Tequilas.
