condominium, 1956_construction, Modern (architecture)
135-foot, 13-story modernist residential building completed in 1956. Designed by Hyman Isaac Feldman, it is clad in off-white brick. The front facade is seven bays wide. At the ground floor, the west bay has an entrance to the underground parking garage, and the middle bays has the main entrance with glass doors below a metal marquee and rounded green canvas canopy that extends out over the sidewalk; three low steps lead up to the entrance. The other bays have horizontal windows set behind landscaping within low, polished granite retaining walls.
At the upper floors, the end bays project out slightly, and have double-windows. The five middle bays have horizontal bands of windows, with four panes in the three middle bays, and three panes in the outer bays. An air-conditioning vent is cut below each window group, and continuous stone sills and lintels join the five middle bays.
There are setbacks above the 10th floor at the middle and end bays, where there are projecting balconies with brick walls. The other bays continue up to the 12th floor before setting back to the top floor, and have angled side walls with windows. There is a tall mechanical penthouse on the roof, also clad in brick.
The west and east elevations have four bays of single-windows with two bays of smaller bathroom windows, and a metal railing along the setback above the 10th floor. The building was converted from apartments to a condominium in 1987 and contains 129 units.
