The Jacob Blaustein Building

8-story modernist office building completed in 1958. Designed by Emery Roth & Sons, it is clad in a curtain wall of metal and dark-tinted glass on the two main facades, framed by light-grey stone panels at the corners. The ground floor has a grey granite water table and another granite band across the top. The recessed main entrance is at the west end on 56th Street, with a glass-and-steel revolving door flanked by traditional doors; the entry bay is framed in stainless-steel. Towards the east end is a metal-and-glass storefront, also present along the avenue side.

The upper floors have thin aluminum mullions and blue glass spandrel panels between floors. The windows have an interesting pattern of single panes alternating with panes interrupted by smaller rectangular panes within the main window frame. These are staggered on alternating floors, with pairs of these windows at alternating ends of the floors on the south facade, and on the east facade they occur on every other floor, at both ends. The ground floor is occupied by P.F. Chang's, and an Atlantic Bank branch.
