The Moorhead Power Plant was originally built in 1895. Many additions were made over the years. Operations ceased at this location in the 1980s, and the building was vacant. In 2012, there was a possibility of the Moorhead Public Library becoming a tenant in the building, but a study showed that the building was starting to slide closer to the Red River. It was demolished in 2014.
