A lot of the rock to make the aggregate for Eufala Dam, just to the north, came out of this rock quarry.
Other rock came from the Dam Site quarry just north of the dam.
The two locations were selected because of quality of the rock. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was very particular about how they built things back then. I rode the first bucket of concrete into the pit when the dam was built.
