Hubb on 56th (New York City, New York)

6-story cooperative-apartment building completed in 1885. It was built to a matching design (only slightly wider) with the neighboring building to the south, and also the building to the west on 56th Street. The facade is clad in red brick above black metal-and-glass storefronts facing the avenue. Along 56th Street there is a 5-bay continuation of the storefront, with black metal-framed windows above a low brick wall that rises to follow to slope of the site from east to west. Much of the rest of the brick on the ground floor is painted red, and to the west there is a metal service door and the main building entrance, with a wide glass door set under a round-arch and covered by a glass canopy.

The upper floors on the east facade have eight bays of single-windows grouped closer together at the north end. The windows have white stone sills (painted red at the 2nd floor) and flat, eared lintels. The sills are joined by white-painted bands above the 2nd floor, and the lintels are joined at each floor. A pair of black metal fire escapes runs down the facade, just south of center. The facade is crowned by two dark-brown metal roof cornices with narrow modillions and paneled friezes with wide swags.

The north facade on 56th Street has a bay of single-windows at the east end, followed by three more closely-grouped single-windows (the western of which is shortened at each floor, bricked up at the lower portion. Continuing east is a group of three narrower windows, and then another bay of short windows with bricked-up bases above where the ground-floor storefront ends. Farther west are four more bays of single-windows. All the windows have sills and lintels matching those on the east facade. There are two more fire escapes, and the roof cornice continues along this elevation.

The building contains 41 apartments. The ground floor is occupied by Rise Bar, and Haru Sushi.
