Midtown Health Center

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Ninth Avenue, 773-775
 health center, commercial building

7-story commercial building completed in 1956. Designed by John J. Schlick, it is primarily clad in red brick, with a random pattern of black bricks, and a grey granite water table. The main entrance is at the north end of the east facade on the avenue, with double sliding metal-and-glass doors below a stainless-steel canopy. To the south is a band of five windows with metal grilles, set in brown metal framing with a concrete sill. The 2nd-6th floors each have bands of five windows at the north and south, separated by concrete panels in the center. Sill courses join the entire band on each floor.

There is a stone coping and metal railing topping the 6th floor, marking the lower roof line. The 7th floor is setback, rising up from the south part of the lower roof line, and is also clad in brick.

The north facade on 52nd Street has a recessed secondary entrance with a metal door at the west end, six bays of double-windows with metal grilles and brown framing (all joined by a common sill) at the center, and a metal vent at the east end. The upper floors also have vents at the east end, and seven double-windows with common sills; each bay is separated by a concrete panel.

The upper part of the south facade is clad in red brick, and has no openings except for at a light well toward the rear, which has double-windows. A metal vent pipe runs up the front of this elevation, and there is a rooftop mechanical penthouse near the center, including a brick chimney.

The building is occupied by The New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of New York City, Inc.'s Midtown Health Center.
