In Arabic: Jabal al-Akrad
Part of the Bargylus Mountains, it's a region historically populated by many Kurds (hence the name, meaning "Kurdish Mountain"). Today however, most of the population is Arabised and predominantly Sunni, with an Alawite/Christian presence to the south.
