The Central at 5th by Hilton | hotel

USA / New Jersey / West New York / East 48th Street, 12

367-foot, 32-story modernist hotel completed in 2020. Designed by Handel Architects, it has a narrow extension through the block to 13 East 47th Street. The facade on 48th Street is clad in silver-white aluminum panels with recessed windows of green-tinted glass. When viewed from the below, this distinctive façade design with its angularly oscillating surface makes the large window openings look hexagonal in shape, and gives the overall surface a honeycomb-like appearance. On the lower section, floor of four window openings alternate with floors of five (with narrower end bays), while the upper floors (beginning at the 14th) have wider bays.

The east and west side facades are clad in grey cast-concrete panels, without windows. The 2-story base of the building projects out at the north facade, with a single, long window band at the 2nd floor, and the ground floor in black polished granite, with glass doors.

The hotel contains 161 guest rooms.
