Stripes (Bryan, Texas) | restaurant, petrol / gas station, convenience store

USA / Texas / Bryan / Bryan, Texas / Texas State Highway 6, 600
restaurant, petrol / gas station, convenience store

This is a huge Stripes convenience store (#2463) and their biggest location at 12,000 square feet. The reason for this was that it was built as "Chicks", a huge Exxon gas station/convenience store that opened in April 2013. It was basically a Buc-ee's knockoff (so much so that Buc-ee's filed a lawsuit), complete with advertising clean restrooms, lots of beef jerky, and even a "Beaver Nuggets" clone. After the Buc-ee's suit, Chicks changed its logo and its merchandise mix, and eventually sold to Stripes in March 2014. By September 2014, the Stripes signage went up. It has a Laredo Taco Company inside the store, as larger Stripes are known for having, though still has the hamburgers that Chicks had sold. The décor inside largely resembles the Chicks design, but the merchandise mix does not.

Comments

  • Its disturbing that the legal system allows businesses like Buc ees to monopolize something like having and advertising lots of bathrooms
  • the suit alleged a lot more than bathrooms, like the merchandise mix and website
  • They even have Slurpees now! But I can't see this store surviving in the form that it is for much longer.
