Oregon Public Broadcasting/NPR station KOAC-AM (550 kHz) transmitter site on the campus of Oregon Agricultural College. This is where what would eventually become OPB got started in 1922, and is currently the only shunt-fed mediumwave transmitter in the United States. Despite having an ERP of only 5000 watts, its low frequency means that its signal can be received over most of western Oregon and southwestern Washington.
