Hampton Inn Manhattan Grand Central

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 43rd Street, 231

20-storty modernist hotel completed in 2013. Designed by ODA Architects, it is set far back from the streetwall, with an entrance courtyard in front. The facade is three bays wide, with the main entrance in the center and a glass-and-metal canopy extending out to the sidewalk. The side bays have secondary entrances. These bays are clad in red brick with columns of aluminum-framed windows; each window group has a wider outer pane, narrow inner pane, air-conditioning vent below the wider pane, and another shorter narrow pane below the upper narrow pane. The spandrels are also grey aluminum. The wider middle bay has banded, beige pre-cast concrete at the lower four floors, with tan brick above. The concrete and brick frame two joined bays of windows, matching those at the end bays. There is a rough-faced stone band course above the 4th floor at the middle bay, and additional band courses every two floors above. The end bays set back at the 20th-floor roof line, and a tall mechanical penthouse rises up at the center bay. The west elevation is windowless and faced in beige smooth stucco. The hotel contains 55 guest rooms.
