"To meet the growing raw material requirement and to sub-serve 1988 National Forest Policy Guidelines of the
Government of India, TNPL undertook the implementation of pulpwood plantation programme for the first time
during the year 2004-05. The plantation program consists of two schemes namely farm forestry and captive
plantation. Under the farm forestry scheme, TNPL supplies seedlings to the farmers at subsidized rates and the
produce is taken back by TNPL through a buy back scheme based on the then prevailing market rates. In the
captive plantation scheme the surplus lands belonging to educational institutions, temples etc are utilized by
TNPL on a lease arrangement and revenue from the produce is shared on a pre fixed ratio."
