The Capitol Theatre was designed by architect Charles W Bates and opened in 1928. It is the largest theatre in West Virginia, with a capacity of 2,400. For many years it was home to Jamboree USA and the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.
The property was acquired in 2009 by the Wheeling Convention and Visitors Bureau which is restoring the theatre.
