Ricardo is a small unincorporated community in Kleberg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,641 at the 2000 census.
The community sits on land sold in the early 1900's by the nearby King Ranch. The manager of the ranch, Robert Kleberg Sr., requested that a depot be built at the site by the railroad. The community established around the depot was named Richard in honor of Richard King, and was later changed to it's Spanish variant, Ricardo. The economic activity in the area is dominated by the cotton farming industry.
