 1925_construction, diplomatic / foreign mission / representation

5-story diplomatic mission completed in 1925 as an office building. Designed by James Gamble Rogers, it is now home to the Permanent Mission of Botswana to the United Nations. The facade is five bays wide, clad in red brick above a 2-story base of light-brown painted stone. Both lower floors have fluted end piers supporting cornices (the 2nd-floor cornice is slightly larger). The ground floor has three tall windows in the center with full surrounds and cornices, and glass doors at each end, with matching surrounds and cornices. The 2nd floor has five tall windows with full surrounds but no cornices. A projecting flagpole is mounted to the left of the westernmost bay.

The upper floors have flat, limestone lintels over the windows, and three stone medallions at the top floors, above the middle and end-bay windows. A stone coping caps the roof line.
