Pit leaned in the counter-scarp of the citadel with the names of the martyrs of the war of 1939-1945, his gardener is bounded by the edges of the wash house of Locmalo. 69 victims of the Nazis are found in a mass grave on May 23rd, 1945 among which six of them are not identified. The decision to dedicate a memorial is taken in 1947. Negotiations with the navy, the owner of grounds, ask for a long deadline and it is only in 1959 when the work is realized, by the architects Guillou and Lamourec.
