Kashiani Upazila (Gopalganj district) with an area of 299.64 sq km, is bounded by Boalmari upazila on the north, Gopalganj sadar upazila on the south, Muksudpur and Gopalganj Sadar upazilas on the east, Lohagara (Narail) and Alfadanga upazilas on the west. Main rivers: Madhumati and Barasia.

The location of Kashiani town is 23.2356077N 89.7208515E. Kashiani (Town) consists of one mouza. The area of the town is 1.62 sq km. It has a population of 4035; male 52.69%, female 47.31%; density of population is 2491 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 52%. The town has two dakbungalows.

Kashiani thana, now an upazila, was established in 1936. It consists of 14 union parishads, 151 mouzas and 161 villages.

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census: Population 205596; male 50.09%, female 49.91%; Muslim 72.86%, Hindu 27%, Christian 0.05% and others 0.09%.

Land control: Among the peasants 33.8% are landless, 39% small, 23.5% intermediate and 3.7% rich.
