536 Madison Avenue

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Madison Avenue, 536
 apartment building, commercial building

5-story residential/commercial building originally completed in 1869. It has undergone several major alterations, including converting the top of the building to a high-pitched gable. This was removed when a new facade by C3D Architecture was installed in 2010. The 2-story commercial base was further updated in 2014, and is clad in black stone. At the north end is a small glass door to the upper floors, with the main area taken up by a double-height expanse of plate-glass framed in stainless-steel.

The upper floors are clad in white pre-cast stone with black-painted aluminum around the two large, square bays on each floor. The north bays have bottom transoms and small windows inset into the lower-right of the main glass pane. The south bays have glass French doors centered with the glass squares, opening onto narrow stone balconies with glass railings. The balcony and glass railing at the 3rd floor is wider, extending over to the north bay as well. The lower level is occupied by Peter Millar Bespoke Clothing.
