 office building, commercial building

264-foot, 21-story International-style office building completed in 1958. Designed by Emery Roth & Sons, it is clad in a curtain wall of aluminum and glass. The ground floor, remodeled in 2014, has plate-glass storefronts with thin metal mullions, and a back-lit white glass band along the top on the avenue. The main entrance is at the north end, slightly recessed with glass doors flanking a revolving door. The lower two floors are cut away at the southeast corner, where there is a large bank branch. On 54th Street, the ground floor is clad in black polished granite at the west end, with a large metal grille, loading dock with roll-down metal gate, and a steel service door.

The upper floors have silver aluminum mullions and dark-grey spandrels. The west end of the building sets back above the 7th floor, and then there are full-floor setbacks at the south and east facades above the 12th, 14th, 17th, and 19th floors. Above the lower roof line is a 3-story mechanical penthouse with the same cladding as the rest of the tower. The west elevation is clad in white brick, with bands of windows along the south end. The ground floor is occupied by a City National Bank branch, Pret-a-Manger restaurant, and Paper Source stationary store.
