Second World War 1939-1945, place with historical importance, draw only border, naval air station
Former site of a WW2-era air station used for training US Navy pilots. The base was closed by the Navy during the closures just preceding the end of the Cold War. For awhile, the barracks were used as squatter housing. Promises to clean up the toxic waste in the soil and ground water beneath the site have not materialized into fact, so it continues to be mostly unused.
