The organized study of the history of Popovo and the region began in 1927, when the Archaeological Society was founded in the town. With its archaeological monuments gathered by it, in 1929, there was an exposition arranged in the municipality. It existed for a short time and the artifacts were carried and kept in the local community center "St. Cyril and Methodius".
