Site of the streetcar loop which permitted streetcars to load and disembark passengers directly into the station. Streetcars provided a vital link to downtown 2.2 miles away, particularly after the anticipated westward expansion of the Central Business District failed to materialize following the construction of the station.

In 1956 the streetcars were discontinued, leaving travelers without adequate parking or a viable alternate form of transit to get them to and from the station.
