The 100,000 sq. ft., former Lincoln Brass Works was acquired in 2011 by investors who planned to renovate the buildings and convert them into mixed use space for up to 50 entrepreneurs. At that time tenants included, Vista Nuevas Head Start, Loveland Technologies, Huffington Post Detroit,Curbed Detroit and Corktown Cinema. By 2018 when the property was purchased by Ford, the property had been vacant since 2016 because of the presence of potentially cancerous fumes. Ford plans to tear down the building and clean up the site.

Lincoln Brass Works

The Lincoln Brass Works was incorporated in 1917 and began operations in a small former automobile shop located in the center of the then residential area. Over the years the business was enlarged through a number of additions and by the 1940s the plant covered the entire block. The plant produced burners, fittings and valves. During WWII bullets and casings were manufactured.

In 1993, the plant was closed and the corporate head office was moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to be closer to the company's two other factories located in that state.
