This is the historical marker for the location of the 'Little School' that operated in this district from 1908 to 1957.

The first school in Batt School District No. 1960, named for the first settler in the Batts Valley, was built in 1908. The original school was destroyed by fire in February 1940. School was held at a local resident's house until a new school was built. After the school was closed and the children bussed to Irma, the building served as a community centre for a number of years.
