Sylvan Avenue Bridge (Dallas)

Unlike other bridges that cross the Trinity River in Dallas, this one is not a full bridge that runs between the levees. With the exception of the bridge over the normal river, the rest of the road is on the floodplain. During heavy rains, this stretch of road is closed as it will be completely submerged when it floods. Near the northern levee is a city park, with a large tank and walking trail. It also has the only public boat ramp onto the Trinity River in the area. While construction and changes in the floodplain will eventual require the road to be raised, the park and boat ramp will remain as part of the proposed river recreation area through the Design District and Downtown.
