This 20 acre parcel of property was acquired by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County in 1972 from Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. The preserve, running along the river, features one shelter, one parking area and one restroom facility. The Forest Preserve District of Kane County central office is located in the government complex above the preserve along with the County of Kane.
Mr. Gunnar Anderson was the first employee of the District, hired in 1927 and remained with the District until his passing in 1993.
